The Firefox Downloads Counter
What’s the latest figure, anyway?
Internet Explorer users may have noticed the counter at the bottom of all the pages on our website indicating the ever-rising number of times that Mozilla Firefox has been downloaded since the release of version 1.0, and anyone can see this number in the first installment of Firefox Soapbox.
The counter works by loading an RSS feed from Spread Firefox. PHP code on our server parses the feed and returns the number of downloads. We used the script made available from Flowstream (currently unavailable) as the basis for our script.
Curious as to exactly what Firefox is? Read Firefox Soapbox for a good introduction. Ready to try it out? Terrific! www.getfirefox.com is the place to get it.
